{Not so} WW: Interiors

Renting a fully-furnished condominium unit wasn't at all what I expected it to be. Well, in some aspects, at least. We weren't able to check the unit out personally so we just trusted a friend when he said that the unit was ok. Overall, it was, really. But it had way too much uncomfortable wooden furniture as should have been placed in a 50sqm unit. The furniture was new - the style and feel (and taste) of it wasn't. One day I was thankful for the really wide dining table, the next I hated the really hard chairs (I bought my own seat cushions, by the way). But the place was perfect though when you think of safety and accessibility.

After a month (and an estafa) later, I eventually assessed my plans of having my own unit in the future. I still want to give it a go. Perhaps after getting my own car?
But I would definitely not have this interior design as an inspiration.

:)

So, what do you think?
Livable, yes. But...

Don't get me wrong, I really liked the place. It's not about the small area, or the hard chairs, but the people you were with, and the experience itself. :)

Ukay-Ukay Friday

 Ukay-ukay (ʊkaɪ/ʊkaɪ) Friday
.. on a Saturday! ;-)

Let me start of by sharing with you what UKAY-UKAY is.
Ukay, in the local dialect means dig. So ukay-ukay can losely translate to digging. There are a lot of ukay-ukay stores in the Philippines. So they're like flea markets, second-hand, thrift, or bargain stores. They usually sell clothes, shoes, and bags from USA, China, or Korea. They usually pile up clothes and you dig through them to search for that perfect piece of apparel. Or, if you're lucky enough, there are those that display the clothes on hangers, but that would mean they're more expensive.
Just to give others an idea, here are pictures from the internet.

There are other ukay-ukay areas that aren't as crazy and packed as the last photo above, but then, you get the picture ;-)

--------------------------------------------------------

Okay.. So yesterday I was blog hopping in search of new interesting blogs. I chanced upon Katie's blog and I'm glad I did! I enjoyed reading her blog and finding out about all her thrift finds. I myself am a thrift-store lover. I'm good at haggling too, if permitted! :)

And now, I am joining her Guiltless Grab Friday blog hop.
My Friday started off with my mother coming home from mass. She said she dropped by an ukay-ukay store and that she bought me something for only P10.00 (1 USD = 43.00 PhP)! It was a black button down blouse. I wanted to take a picture but then she washed it right away. Now, I don't know where it is. I'll probably share it some other time.

What I'm really showing off for today is my Wish Mini Journal. I love notebooks, journals, planners, and diaries so I was so happy to spot this treasure over at the local Booksale

The actual look. It's a bit dirty but it's crisp and clean on the inside!

I got it for only P70.00. I think it's already out of print but if you check their website, it's still being sold at $8. One site is still even selling it for $18!

I bought a similar journal from the same publisher months ago. It was a coffee-addict's journal. :) I'm pretty sure I'm not going to write on them, and I don't know why.
I just love looking at them (and smelling them too!).

So that's it! I'm excited for next week because I've got a lot lined up already. And I'm excited to check out the other blogs too!

In the Nude

So over the vacation, I had this fascination for nude pumps.
Luck was on my side. I was fortunate to have won a £100 Gift Voucher from Asos via Wantlet and Sweet of PensandLens (thank you, thank you, mwuaaah!). With that, I  searched Asos for that perfect pair of nude pumps.
Asos

I think I scanned through every shoe that they had and this was the only one that matched my preferences (and budget!). I'm not into sophisticated shoes - I go for the simple ones. Also, this is not what you'd normally consider nude since it's taupe. But I like it still!
The shoe has been delivered and I'm wondering when I'll get to wear it since it's about 5 inches high! I can't wear it for my corporate attire day in school since I'll be up and down flights of stairs. I might not only break my ankle if I get into an accident but might also break my neck!haha

I know not everyone adores pumps, much more, the nude ones, but I am currently loving this trend.
It makes your legs look longer, mind you (I consider myself to have 'short' legs).

I hope this doesn't go out of fashion for sometime because I still don't have an idea where and when I'll be wearing mine. I'm really excited to wear it though. I'll just wait for the timing.
And oh, I would definitely feel like I'm Toni Gonzaga if I'll wear this. :)

Anyone else who loves nude pumps? :P

Wordless Wednesday: Jump!

It's either that wacky picture or that jump shot! :)
I'm the oldest among my cousins (not counting my married elder sister who rarely joins us during trips due to different constraints). I'm twenty-something, but look! I still look like one of the kids (can you spot me?), and I still feel like one too.

Over the summer vacation, we went to this abandoned pier. It was newly constructed yet abandoned because it was useless. There wasn't a need for it in the area. And so, what happened was that people went there to just sit around, have rounds of drinks, or take a dive.

I wanted to dive knowing that the water was deep and the wind was just perfect. However, the only problem was that, if I jumped into the water, I would have trouble coming back up.

The waves were just too strong and there weren't any stairs or something that one could hold on to when coming up...

But that didn't stop us from taking a dip into the ocean! There were stairs somewhere at the sides of dike leading to the pier so we stayed there.

It was getting dark already and I am not a big fan of night (and no light) swimming. So we just stayed near the steps. :) It wasn't that bad..

See? We looked like we had fun!

Honestly, we did! haha ;-) We just looked so funny because our Aunt was trigger-happy taking pictures every now and then. You know that feeling when it's pitch black and the camera just flashes and it's back to black again? I felt like I had migraines. My brother and cousin felt the same thing too!

After dinner (yes, we had dinner there, with the help of an emergency lamp), we planned on walking home because we wouldn't fit inside the transport we brought. My cousin said he'd just come back for us, but for the meantime, we can walk and eventually catch him on the road. It seemed like a good idea (the lamp was with us) because my Uncle said that there was a mini waterfall nearby, we can take a swim there while waiting.

And so we did! It looked like a pool with a fountain at the side.
The pictures taken during this time weren't good though. So here's just one clear shot.
It was coooold..

This was only the start of my summer adventure. More to come soon! ;-)
Happy Wednesday! ;-)

Meet me on Monday

1.  What is your favorite bagel flavor?
I couldn't quite relate to today's Meet Me on Monday questions since I don't eat bagel often. Let me skip that Q since I don't have a fave. :)
uhm, I think I prefer donuts :)

2.  If you had an extra $100 right now, what would you spend it on?
first thing that came to mind was shoes but then if I had extra money, I'd go for food and binge.
Or skin and hair products. I badly need them especially now that summer is almost over.
Tan lines! Good thing I didn't have sunburns but I got this really awful line. I look like I just burned myself!

3.  What is the last thing that you felt guilt about doing?
More of, not doing. There was something I was supposed to do way back and never had the guts to do it. Now that I'm faced with it's consequences, I am having trouble facing the telling the complete truth.
But hey, I told them the truth but they wouldn't listen!

4.  Soft serve ice cream or hand dipped?
I honestly didn't know the difference until now. :) I thought it was just sundae vs ice cream - guess I use the wrong terms :D  And I've realized that I like hand dipped more! I love soft-served because of that fluffy feeling when you eat it but hand dipped ones are just heavenly! Lots of flavors to choose from too! :D

5.  Are you allergic to anything?
Alcoholic beverage! I try to think I'm not but everytime I drink, I turn red with the slightest sip, and bloat and itch all over! My friends say that the cure to this allergy is to drink more! ;-)

I'm also allergic to people who try hard in speaking/talking in english.  This goes out to people (especially where I'm from where English is only a second language) to desperately try to sound like an American/native english, with all the slangs or twangs or what-have-you's. Why can't you just be proud of your natural accent? You can always improve, but don't try THAT hard - you'll end up sounding really funny!! A shout out also goes out to those who constantly have wrong grammar - especially if they laugh at others about it.

By the way, about 10 days ago, I took (yes, I TOOK) this award from Shanimal's Crackers.
Thank you! She told me to take it, because anyone can haha! :D

I am thus a Sunshine Awardee!
Thank you! :)

shot

Sunday is supposed to be a rest day, but I was super busy. Nothing much to share but this.

Check out my cousin Louie. She's 5 and very playful.
This was taken in the afternoon at my Aunt's backyard while my other cousin and my brother was playing basketball.

She can fly! :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
It's Monday once again.

I'll be leaving for a 10-day trip sometime this and I can't wait! I hope everyone gets to have a terrific week ahead!

Love lots!

Meet me on Monday.. and then some...

Here's another edition of the Meet me on Monday. I look forward to Mondays already because of this. Join the fun to meet all kinds of people. What to do, what to do? Simply answer the questions, and link it up!

So, here it is!

1.  If you had to eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Potatoes!
I love potatoes! In fact, I'd die without them!
Mashed potatoes are the best! Coming from a country whose staple food is rice, I can say that I can ditch rice for potatoes. Breakfast lunch dinner. Yes!

2.  Do you write your blog posts in advance or the day you post them?
The day I post them.
Though I do have some drafts waiting to be published and some notes too. But most the time, I publish them the day I write them!
3.  Have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
Never
Thank God for that. But I've been inside a vehicle that was used for an emergency purpose.
It was my brother-in-law and he couldn't breath. My sister didn't know how to contact the hospital so she called us instead. I didn't know there was an emergency going on. I simply went with them. I even brought food because we made salad that day. Ooops.

4.  What is your favorite candle scent?
Sandalwood.
When I lived in Cagayan de Oro (Mindanao, Philippines), I used to collect incense sticks (okay, I forgot how to call them), because we lived near stores that sell those kind of stuff. They had a wide variety but I always went for sandalwood. There's another one but I forgot how it's called.
So that's it, I like sandalwood -  not too vanilla-ish, musky, and a bit of spice :)
I don't like sweet smells. I'm not a big fan of floral candle scents, except if it's ylang-ylang (for me, that smells really great). I like earthly tones. very. much. :D

5.  Coffee or tea?
This question sounds like a TV ad. haha!
Actually, it depends
When I'm studying for a an exam, it's going to be coffee. When I'm studying, just because I need to study, then it's just tea.

Okay, I think my answer would be tea.

and then some.. hops!

hop-a-doo!

I'm blog hopping and I'm enjoying it! ;-)

This blog might be new but I'm not a first-timer on blogging. I just never had the guts to share my blog and 'expose' it. But this time, I'm ready. And honestly, I'm enjoying it. Not only do I get to link my blog for others to see (and follow *aheem*), I also get to discover great blogs (and giveaways)!

I started blog-hopping last week through Blogspot's convenient link: Next Blog. :p And then I chanced upon sites which exchanged linkys and what-have-you's.

And so, this week, and for the next weeks to come, *I think*, I will be joining the bandwagon!

The Things We Find Inside

I love my online friends
You can be a guest host too! :D

it's just the start of the week, don't be moody!
