{Not so} WW: Interiors

Renting a fully-furnished condominium unit wasn't at all what I expected it to be. Well, in some aspects, at least. We weren't able to check the unit out personally so we just trusted a friend when he said that the unit was ok. Overall, it was, really. But it had way too much uncomfortable wooden furniture as should have been placed in a 50sqm unit. The furniture was new - the style and feel (and taste) of it wasn't. One day I was thankful for the really wide dining table, the next I hated the really hard chairs (I bought my own seat cushions, by the way). But the place was perfect though when you think of safety and accessibility.

After a month (and an estafa) later, I eventually assessed my plans of having my own unit in the future. I still want to give it a go. Perhaps after getting my own car?
But I would definitely not have this interior design as an inspiration.

:)

So, what do you think?
Livable, yes. But...

Don't get me wrong, I really liked the place. It's not about the small area, or the hard chairs, but the people you were with, and the experience itself. :)

It's Christmas!

December 3 marked my first Christmas party of the year. And hopefully, my last in Law School. I am not officially enrolled this semester but I still chose to attend, and well, join the fun!

There was a "Talent Show" with a Christmas theme and me and my friends decided to join. My friends don't usually join this kind of activity, much more, dance, but hey, it's going to be our last so why not make the most out of it.

We never practiced, but we prepared our audio. It was a mash up, haha! We were ambitious!
At the last minute, we even decided to sing an acoustic version of Price Tag!

Initially, we wanted somebody to take a video for us but nobody wanted to do it, hmph! We ended up having only a few pictures, but that's fine anyway. It was just a crazy experience, I'm glad I don't have to go to school everyday.

Our presentation included the following songs/audio:
Jingle Bell Rock (from Mean Girls)
A ho-ho-ho-ing Santa Clause
Kung Fu Fighting (Foo Fighters)
Footlose
Dougie
Mr. Roboto (Styx)
Thriller
Price Tag (Acoustic, Live, my version :)))
Super Bass
Bad Romance

Weird, right? But it wasn't that weird when we were there. We were always laughing. Good thing we were the 6th and last to present amongst the other "serious" entries.

Well, we didn't win, of course, but we got a consolation price which we spent for coffee (well, actually my father paid for mine haha).

Overall, I enjoyed the night. And I'm looking forward to more Christmas parties!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Free Your Mind Tuesday #4: Walking the Talk

This is post #4 in a series of post for the 50 questions that will "Free Your Mind" which I will be doing every Tuesday. If you have chanced upon my blog and have answered or is also planning to answer the same set of questions, please do link up so that we can all read each others' entries.
Thanks!

#4.
When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

I guess not.
I'd like to believe I'm more of a doer, though I wouldn't deny that I talk a lot.

I live by the saying, walk the talk. I hate people who don't, and I wouldn't want to end up hating myself. And as Katy Perry said it, "Shut up and put your money where your mouth is." ;-)

Admittedly, this is a tough question for me because looking back, I think I haven't done a lot to really say that I have done more. I was never the all-talk type (but the talk-a-lot!) but I was (and still am?) the lazy type.

Lately, I realized that I have lots of plans going on in my mind and I couldn't even catch up with myself. I don't like talking about my plans, because I'm afraid that in the end, it would all be just that - talk. I'm gearing myself towards more action, less talk. Less talk, less mistakes. ;-) And with that, I end my babble. I don't know what else to say!

-----
While writing this entry, Des'ree's song Life kept popping in my head because of these lines:

So after all said and done
I know I'm not the only one
Life indeed can be fun,
If you really want to.

I looked up the video in YouTube just to let it play while I was writing this, and look at the inspiring comment that I found (interesting it's from a clickforboobs!), and I'm ending this post on that note.

Personal Record:
Just broke my personal record for consecutive days lived.
Going for the record again tomorrow

Free Your Mind Tuesday #3: Only Human

This is post #3 in a series of post for the 50 questions that will "Free Your Mind" which I will be doing every Tuesday. If you have chanced upon my blog and have answered or is also planning to answer the same set of questions, please do link up so that we can all read each others' entries.

If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?

Because we are only humans.

First off, do we really intend to do the things we don't like?
I guess not. It's either we do it out of necessity or simply because we have no choice.

An illustration:
Your sister is getting married and you're the maid of honor. Being the liberated woman that she is, her motif is Playboy and hot pink. Your outfit? S l u t t y. You don't tell her you're against it because it's going to be her day anyway (it's not always about you) and in no way are you going to ruin it. She said that you can change during the reception.
Will you have it your way? Wear a different gown, and hurt yoursister's feelings?
Or do something you dread - look like a slut?

you can be a real martyr, you know
Well, that's a crazy example though. I would have killed my sister for it.
But hey, the predicament is possible, right?

But really, a concrete (and say, realistic) example would be this..
Imagine yourself wanting to go to lawschool because your life's greatest ambition was to become a big-time lawyer. But somewhere in the middle of lawschool, you fail a class, and eventually drop out.
One always does the best that he can when he wants something badly, but things do not always turn out the way you planned. So instead of becoming the lawyer that you dreamt of, you end up doing something else. The circumstances thus barred you from living your dream. You may not hate where and what you are right now, but you don't pretty much like it either. Sad, but possible. It just wasn't meant to be
Just think of it this way: God has a different and way better plan for you.
Quit not liking what you do and start appreciating.

And why do we like so many things we don't do?
Fear, the lack of courage. And the most practical answer: no budget and circumstances just wouldn't let you.

Fear. There's this guy whom you really like. You want to go out with him but you never ask him out because you're afraid he might say no. You  fear failure, rejection, and frustration. You never take the risk.
(Go out and ask him now! Don't be afraid of him saying no. Solution? Ask him out again!)

No budget. The universe is conspiring against it.
Personal experience: I want to go to Las Vegas. I'm from the Philippines. I have no money and no VISA. See? Simple.

Random fact about me:
My dream wedding consists of a wedding in Vegas. Just sharing.

Okay, my examples may be a bit weird, what I'm trying to really point out is that no matter how we plan to live our lives in ways most convenient and suitable with our desires, there are always circumstances beyond  our control.

I believe in a Supreme Being and that our life's journey has already been planned before us.
He has already plotted down our itinerary. It will be now up to us how to make the best out of it.

We may not always like what we do, nor are we able to do the things that we like, what is important is to cherish and be thankful for every breathing moment. Appreciate and count every blessing. Let everything we do be for God's greater glory. Never hate. Sprinkle everything with love. Be optimistic. Smile.
La vita è bella.
